**SPOILER ALERT** Mind boggling police crime drama involving a police widow who falls in love with her late husbands murderer. The murdered cop in question Lee McLean, Jeffery Noudling, was killed by the drug dealers he was setting up in a sting as an undercover policeman. McLean who was addicted to drugs himself ripped off a cool one million dollars from Angel, Tim Daly, and his two partners Mia, Alice Carter, and Barclay, Joe Pantoliano, during a drug for cash switch then went terribly wrong. One the run with Angel & Co. breathing down his neck McLean screwed himself up by trying to buy drugs, with Angel's money, from one of Angel's street drug dealers with him ending up dead after he was finally tracked down by Angel & Co. With McLean taking the secret of Angel's money to his grave it was now up to Angel to find the only person that McLean could have entrusted it with his grieving widow Carol, Lauren Holly. The greasy and bearded looking Angel does a complete makeover looking like a 1980's Wall Street yuppie in trying to first romance Carol and then, with her guard down, find out where her dead husband stashed his hard earned, that cost the lives of some half dozen persons, drug money. The made for TV movie "Dangerous Heart" seems to be about the effects of the Stockholm Syndrome-where a crime victim falls in love with his or her victimizer-in reverse! Angel who at first is in total control of the situation later lets his attraction, that eventually leads to love, to the totally clueless, in what Angel is really up too, Carol go straight to both his head and heart! This strange change in Angel's personality is duly noted by his two partners in crime Mia and Barclay. Knowing that the love sick, for Carol, Angel can't be trusted. It's then that both Mia and Barclay try to strong arm, or even murder, Carol in order to find out where her husband Lee McLean hid the drug money that he ripped off from them.****SPOILERS**** Angel now having divided loyalties between both his lover Carol and his crime partners Mia and Barclay becomes a schizophrenic for the remainder of the movie. This really gives actor Tim Daly, playing Angel, a chance to show his acting talents in this very unusual Doctor Jekyll an Mister Hyde type role. The poor guy is so confused in whom he supposed to be, the good or bad the guy in the movie, that by the time the film ends he, as well as the audience, is not quite sure what side he's on! We do in fact, after all the dust settles, finally find out just where the missing drug money ended up. What we also find out is that Angel's idiotic and murderous partners Mia and Berclay were in fact on to where the cash was hidden! But as you would expect from birdbrains like themselves they ended up killing, along with their freedom, the goose that laid the golden egg!

Not a good movie. The leading lady, played by Lauren Holly with a blank face goes around refusing her husband's advances, but willingly jumps into the sack with a stranger. With her dyed red hair and overly made up face, she looks more like a whore in this than an innocent victim. I was rooting for the villain. Timothy Daly played the villain and I was on this handsome hunk's side. He played the role convincingly. His two side kicks, particularly Alice Carter as an over reacting witch and the dumb one were so awful you had to laugh. Was Lauren supposed to be a bimbo? Could have fooled me. Daly makes it worth watching. Plus the entire police force in this must have buttons missing. And away we go.

I remember seeing this movie when it was made for TV and the story line reminded me of one of my all time favorite TV movies , made in 1970, called "THE OTHER MAN". That film starred Roy Thinnes and the late Joan Hackett and is similar as the female lead has no idea that the man she has fallen in love with is really someone else and initially is trying to get revenge. This was a 10 rated all around, The score and the majestic setting in Big Sur, CA made it memorable. And the acting was first rate.DANGEROUS HEART has much of the same premise, an innocent , naive woman who meets and falls for a handsome stranger who pretends to be someone else. Tim Daly goes from greasy drug dealer to suburban single by changing his clothes, washing his hair and shaving his beard. He then does his best to find out from the woman he initially seduces and ultimately loves where the money that her late husband stole from him is located. I rated this film a 7 because the rest of the supporting cast was very annoying. The girl who played Angel's moll and girlfriend was so over the top in her performance that it looked like amateur night at a high school play. The other pest was Joe Pantoliano who was definitely trying too hard. His drug dealer cum psycho character has been done much better on LAW AND ORDER etc. I found watching him very distracting. The story also has a lot of holes in it and the plot could have been crafted better. It ends very much like THE OTHER MAN and cannot have one of those fairy tale endings but is more like a Greek Tragedy.Tim Daly became my new heart throb after I saw this and confirmed this position with his performance in the OUTSIDER (a western that is a cross between THE ANGEL AND THE BADMAN and HIGH NOON but with some steamy sex).If anyone ever finds THE OTHER MAN, let me know as I have been searching for years! That was truly one of the lost films of TV.

I like a good romantic drama and this one is. I have no idea why it has such low ratings here, because I think it's a very good film. The story is well written, the pacing is good, dialog is fine, and the actors did excellent work.It stars Lauren Holly as Carol, and Lauren looks really beautiful in this film, with her auburn hair. Tim Daly is the male lead, and I thought he looked fine as well.Unknown to her, Carol's husband, Tim, a cop who is working undercover, isn't bringing in any criminals for justice, instead he's hooked on cocaine, and getting more erratic by the minute.During a drug deal that goes awry, Tim manages to latch onto some really big bucks. His plan is for him and Carol to leave the country together, but she is reluctant.Annoyed by Carol's reluctance and in need of a drug fix, Tim storms out of the house and to his death.Drug kingpin, Angel (Tim Daly)and his cohorts want their money back, but they don't know what Tim has done with it.Tim Daly as Angel, initially looks really rough, a mustache and beard, along with greased down hair, and wearing all black, with lots of rings on his fingers--was quite exciting. He changes his look entirely however in order to woo the dead cop's wife, Carole, in hopes of discovering where the money is.There are some really good romantic scenes between Angel and Carol. As their romance progresses, one wonders how this is all going to turn out. Will Carol discover who he really is? Does she love him enough to accept him anyway? Will Angel find the money? Does Carol have the money? And does or doesn't Angel really love her? I was disappointed in the ending, not because it wasn't well done - but I had hoped for something else. There may well be a few minor gaps in believability in the telling of this story, but it didn't bother me any. An excellent film, very entertaining. 8 stars out of 10.
