07/07/2018 Not an overly exciting movie, but still worth your time to watch. I definitely enjoyed it and can recommend it to all. All of Bryan Cranston's dialog was with that fake Russian accent (why?/so unnecessary) which always hurts a movie but his acting, like the lead female actress Alice Eve, was as professional as we always hope to see. Not a 10 star movie, but just a few stars below. Watch for yourself and then you can help decide its fate. Bon Appetit

A good little thriller that doesn't outstay its welcome. That may be because the film is quite short (87 minutes). But that includes rather lengthy end-credits so when the narrative ends, the viewer might have thought there was more to come. I was kind of hoping for some sort of shock ending like Topo had worn a bullet-proof vest or the other cop tried to get in on the act ....something. The character of Topo is interesting, a ruthless killer but with a major weakness: bad vision. This doesn't seem to hinder his ability to escape unscathed from a car that contains 3 armed men, a tad implausible to say the least and then he is killed off too soon. Another implausible thing in the movie: a cop goes from (as perceived by the viewer) supportive friend (who may be more judging by his wife's hostility towards Chloe when she encounters her) to slightly crooked (skimming off the top) to totally whacked out psycho killer in the time that has elapsed in the movie which although not done in real time happens over two or three days.

Every time I see a movie with the "perfect" aspect ratio of 1920*1080 or even 1280*720 (without the black bars) I know that it's going to be cheap. Most good movies do not fill the screen completely, which is a real shame by the way. Now the only reason I decided to watch this was because I was in love with the TV series "Breaking Bad"; the best TV show that has ever hit the screens. It seems to me that the director of this movie was trying hard to imitate Breaking Bad's style just because it's got Bryan Cranston in it. The cinematography, the acting, the type of actors and actresses used, who looked like real life American people (and thus bland) rather than eye candy super models, the background music being kept to a minimum as if it were non-existent, a dull countryside for a setting, a similar story-line, etc were all screaming "I'm a Breaking Bad wannabe".Unfortunately, while these features worked so well for a TV show with over 70 episodes, giving you a good opportunity to get used to the show's style and to care for the characters, the exact same features failed to make for an interesting, stand-alone movie. "Cold Comes the Night" is just about as "cold" as its title, and Bryan Cranston's cold acting, which perfectly fit Breaking Bad, fell flat on its face; this was made worse by him trying to act as a foreigner, who had surprisingly mastered all of English language's grammar but the most basic part of it; the usage of the articles "a" and "an", which sounded rather stupid. After watching this movie I can only hope that Godzilla is not going to be just as boring for having Bryan Cranston in it.

Some people like this movie, while others have found issues with it. As for me, while I wouldn't call the movie perfect, I found myself interested with what was going on right to the end. Yes, there are some nagging questions that are never answered, like why the central female character didn't put her money in a bank, or why she couldn't find a new place to live when she owned a motel. And there are a few unbelievable decisions by the characters - for example, TWO characters each have a scene when they don't repeatedly hit a person threatening them. But despite these problems, there is a lot to enjoy here. The acting is solid, not just by Bryan Cranston but also the no name supporting cast. The story has some good (and believable) twists and turns, enough that I could not predict what would happen at the end. And the production values are good for what had to be a low budget. The movie is 78 minutes of good entertainment. Yes, I know the running time is 90 minutes. That's because the end credits run a whopping TWELVE MINUTES! Still, you don't have to sit through them, so that's a minor quibble.
