what to expect from life when life changes? what's next? mix it and ball game and you get "the coach". do not expect a groundbreaking film, but expect at least identify yourself there. little big movies are about that.this story can be installed in our imagination and it is there under several different ways. but here is a very well-made, articulated and perfect genre film, with a great capacity of holding those who watch. with an outlook on life and on people that you won't see in every film of that particular genre. simple and delicious.

I really enjoyed this movie. It actually made me feel for the main character. Not too many movies do this for me. But when you feel for the main character and start being immersed in the movie, you know that it's a good movie. I take all reviews with a grain of salt now, especially after watching this movie. I cannot understand why this movie garnered such bad reviews because I think it is a well made movie. The actors did a great job and the story was very well done. All I can think of is that these reviewers are sadly jaded or just simply hate entertaining movies like this which they consider below them. Or, they simply hate the actors or this genre. This is a must-see movie in my opinion. It has a lesson to teach and it is quite well made. Families should watch this as this movie has value. It teaches us that we can all change for the better. Even when others don't think so. So what if others don't believe in you? There are others that do. I cannot recommend this movie more. It is just plain excellent.

Coach is a very safe romantic comedy - but it does kind of work, we actually enjoyed it, but not sure we like ourselves for liking it. It's just grown-up enough to be OK.It's plot of a slacker trust fund guy who finds himself and love coaching little league soccer is kind of like comfort food - you know what you're getting and either you like it anyway or at least there's nothing not to like here.It would be a good choice if you a) have a boyfriend who was soccer mad, and you want to watch a film together or b) had a girlfriend that you wish would at least watch the world cup matches with you and you want to introduce her to soccer.Overall Coach is like spaghetti and meatballs - you can't complain, but you can't rave either. It's a cute romantic comedy (bordering on drama) and all in all it just about scores the goal it's aiming for....

"Coach" has the formulaic kids-teach-coach-how-to-succeed-in-life same old drivel written all over it. And it never rises above.Hugh Dancy plays Coach, built from the same mold as Hugh Grant in "About A Boy". I like Hugh Dancy but even he isn't able to make this film very likable. He stars as a rich trust-fund slacker, and when his girlfriend dumps him he realizes he needs to find a job to finally grow up. So he coaches kids soccer, where we find the usual misfit kids who he is able to bring together and they show him a thing or two about growing up. From the outset he's a good coach but in the usual, lame way - this film didn't add anything new or intelligent.I was disappointed with the romantic comedy story line, as his love interest didn't add any comedy, and her character wasn't redeeming in any way. Also very poorly cast (that girl is definitely not a doctor). The other main problem with this film trying its hand at romantic comedy is that it alienates its audience. With the mild sexual content I don't think it's meant for kids and most adults would want to go for something more intelligent. It would be suitable for teenagers but they aren't given any characters to relate to."Coach" ultimately does nothing wrong, but its very disappointing that they couldn't add any bit of originality or thought to this tired formula.
