Carry On Abroad Trailers

A group of holidaymakers head for the Spanish resort of Elsbels for a 4-day visit. When they get there, they find the Hotel still hasn't been finished being built, and the weather is awful. And there is something strange about the staff—they all look very similar. To top it all off, the weather seems to be having an adverse affect on the Hotel's foundations.

They didn't just make a great movie with Carry on Abroad, they nailed it, this is my favourite of the films, I think it edges Screaming. So they didn't have a big budget, and it wasn't filmed in Spain, but it doesn't matter. Filmed entirely in England, during what appears to be the colder months they somehow manage to get away with it. It's not the first time a leap of faith is needed in a film.Package holidays really took off for Brits in the 70's so it was only natural that the gang had one of their own. One of the strongest casts of all time, they're pretty much all there, and all on top form. Noted for being the last Carry on film to feature Charles Hawtrey, bit of an in joke for the production team I think, having Charles's character Mr Tuttle as an alcoholic, a sad way for him to have bowed out.Kenneth Williams is hilarious, Charles Hawtrey is hilarious and it's my favourite Carry on outing for Kenneth Connor, only Gail Grainger was a little questionable, but she looked the part. Some of the funniest lines and humour in any of the Carry of films, yes in parts it was smutty, quite rude, we were getting mild nudity, but at times it was brilliant, the best part for me being the dialogue between Sid and June Whitfield, 'I tried it once and didn't like it,' that was genius. An out and out classic, bawdy and laugh out loud funny. 10/10

Widely considered to be one of the last truly great CARRY ON movies, this all-star ensemble production takes a simple, contemporary storyline and runs away with it. Notable for featuring the most regular Carry On actors out of any of the films, this is very much a follow-up to CARRY ON CAMPING in spirit. It tackles the subject of the then-booming market for package holidays, sending off the usual faces to a cut-price hotel in Spain for some madcap adventures.Really, the plot here is slim enough to write itself, but watching the various stars interacting is always a lot of fun. And it's one of the few times where I actually liked Barbara Windsor, whose relationship with Sid James is at its lecherous best. Kenneth Williams is the buffoonish group leader, Charles Hawtrey appears for the final time playing a version of himself, and Kenneth Connor and June Whitfield make for a delightfully repressed double act.The jokes are usually puerile and ever low brow, but there's something to be said for the quick-fire rate of the gags which never let up from start to end. We get a delightful Peter Butterworth as the increasingly frazzled hotel owner, a destructive climax that brings to mind the delights of CARRY ON UP THE KHYBER, and more familiar faces than you can shake a stick at. Watch it for the nostalgic days of yesteryear where silly slapstick routines ruled the day, guys played idiots or lechers, the girls were either totty or repressed, and audiences were happily entertained by it all...

This film is excellent its a real gem. After 30 years it still shines. The story is about a group of British holiday makers on a cheap package holiday deal to the island of Elsbels Spain. When they get there everything goes wrong that could possibly go wrong. Its a great enjoyable romp. It is Charles Hawtreys final Carry on contribution. The film is the last to include all the regular cast together so is really the end of an era. It is better than the next film Carry on Girls, which is not quite the same. Jimmy Logan makes an appearance in this and carry on Girls. Overall excellent after this the films started to decline Girls was satisfactory Dick was good Behind was not bad, England was a terrible film and emmanuelle was awful. overall this film is great 10/10

I watched this film the other day, hoping to cheer my self up after paying a lot of money on getting my car repaired. And as usual it did the trick, well it did for a couple of hours. The film is fun from start to finnish,it has most of the regular cast, playing their usual parts. In this one Peter Butterworth gets to use a different accent, which he does to great comic effect. The only problem i found was that the version I've bought seems to have a scene missing,my wife thought the same thing.I do specifically remember a scene when they all go down the monks cave, and i think Sid James puts a monks robe on,and hands out wine.I cant remember exactly what happens,as i hadn't seen it for a few years, but i had seen it a few times before, and do definitely remember a scene like that.My wife and i were trying to remember what happens in that part and why it has suddenly been dropped in the new DVD release .We thought it may have something to do with upsetting the church.Maby there was complaints about it so its now been cut out.But in all this is a fine comedy dealing with the Brits Abroad, when in the 70s this was a great adventure for any Brit,as it was expensive then. The film also deals with all the holiday nightmares, the ones that ruin your holiday, such as drilling,no water, windows that don't open etc.But this hotel had everything wrong with it,for a start it was only half finished. So i recommend if your feeling in low spirits, watch a carry on film,as their bound to cheer you up.
