A vicious killer picks off various young counselors who are reopening a summer camp. Limply directed by Ralph E. Portillo, with a hackneyed and derivative script by John R. Stevenson (said script shamelessly copies "Friday the 13th" right down to the psycho being a third-rate Jason clone who wears a hockey mask and a secondary Crazy Ralph type doomsayer old coot character), zero tension or creepy atmosphere, cardboard and unlikable characters, a generic hum'n'shiver score by Steven M. Stern, poorly staged murder set pieces, a bland soundtrack of forgettable rock songs, a grindingly predictable and unsurprising plot, a painfully plodding pace, crude cinematography by Keith Holland (the primitive use of fades is especially pathetic), an irritating "it ain't over yet!" sequel set-up non-ending, and mostly lackluster acting from a lame no-name cast (Jessica Morris as the annoying Julie 'Jewels' McDonnell in particular contributes a terrible performance, although Crystalle Ford tries hard and rises above the general mediocrity as the sweet and sunny Drew Zembe), this slice'n'dice item quite simply doesn't cut it as a remotely good or worthwhile fright film. The total dearth of any gratuitous female nudity and slight smattering of mild and unconvincing gore adds further abject insult to already appalling injury. A real stinker.

I bought my copy in Australia just to see and believe that there are some slashers so bad you have to watch them to be believed. Bloody Murder, the title said it all, it should be bloody, well, it isn't. You never see the knife or other items go into the flesh. The storyline is simple, some teenagers go to summercamp were years ago somebody died (friday the 13th). Of course they would like to play a game to impress the girls (friday the 13th). And then they all disappear one after each other. In a grisly way? No, in a ridiculous way. Of course one chick is the hero and has been warned by an old creepy man (friday the 13th) about what happened 20 years ago. The suspect of the killings nowadays is, ...yawn....Jason. The beginning of the movie is also that kind of....the classic way, Guy and girl in the woods, car broke down, guy wanders alone through the woods to catch some gasoline and runs into the killer, watch the killer, thin and small. Not believable, but he has, shiver, a chainsaw (TCM) and a hockeymask (friday the 13th) and wears an overall (Halloween) and he starts his chainsaw, you can hear it roar but the chainsaw isn't running when you watch closely. Anyway, anything what makes a horror bad is in it. No gore at all, you never see the for example the bow goes into the flesh, they only show the results. And the acting when they die, I guess that my children could do Play Dead better. But guess, they made a Bloody Camp 2. Will see it shortly, but they say that they learned from there mistakes and that that one is gory...

WOW!!! I can't remember seeing something that could be any worse then this piece of garbage. Bad acting, bad 'special' effects, bad everything. Everything was stolen from classic horror movies such as Friday the 13th, Halloween and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The name of the killer is about as pathetic as the title. Bloody murder?? I'd say funny murder. You can find more blood in a mosquito then in this movie. Save yourself agony, money and time. Avoid this movie. Besides, it would be stupid to spend money on this movie. the cost of renting the movie is probably higher then the cost of MAKING the movie!! Watch the classics that are being embarrassed by this movie.Total crap!!1 out of 10

It's really hard to classify movies like Bloody Murder. Obviously, this movie has it's fair share of core fans- me being one of them. The movie is devoid of good writing, and a good story, but being a fan of independent horror (I mean really low budget productions) I think the movie was really well put together considering the budget and what actors they had. Again, this movie reminds me of some of the low budget movies we got back in the eighties. It has a really authentic camp slasher feel, with a really well thought out plot twist- albeit badly executed. It's really hard to get over the pathetic "killer" Trevor Moorhouse who's built more like a 15 year old chess player, than a linebacker (ala Kane Hodder).The name Trevor Moorhouse was said more times in 30 minutes than I have ever heard any killer's name said in any horror movie period. That was pretty annoying and unnecessary. Later, after people start dying the teens at the camp share their theories who the killer really is, which was really fun because anyone could have been the killer.Once the audience is directed to believe someone is indeed the killer, we later learn isn't the killer- it's the head counselor who is'also Nelson Hammond. (oops) The movie had a lot to offer, but lacked a lot. Everything the movie lacked, it seemed like they made up for in Bloody Murder 2, which I also liked a lot. Again, this movie isn't meant for people who are looking for a scare or a good movie. It's fun, it's cheesy, and it has a really nice camp location.It's really hard to rater this because it's more like a Friday The 13th fan film than a legitimate release.
