I absolutely love movies like this, silly B movies, but this one didn't strike me as well as a lot of them do. I just didn't find myself laughing as much as I normally do, or compelled if I wasn't laughing, or even really enjoying the premise as much as I normally do. Still, I sat through the whole thing and am taking the time to review it, so I guess a 6 will do. There's just better stuff out there.

"What if TOMATOES attacked people?! That would be ridiculous! Ya know, because food isn't sentient! HAHAHAHA!" I honestly don't think anyone making this thought any harder than that. Other than a few non-sequitur, ZAZ-esque jokes, it's boring and flat and lazy. I would've thrown tomatoes at the screen, except that's what the movie would probably want and I don't wanna give it that pleasure.

I noticed that most of the pedestrian reviewers have said about the same thing. They got a kick out of this film, but thought it was terrible. I can't disagree. Having raised a few tomatoes in my time (you know, using those plants they sell at garden center) one ends up with so many, we don't know what to do with them. Think of the movie, "The Birds," an imagine that instead of birds you had home grown tomatoes. Throughout this film we see them rolling down the streets. We see terrified men and women, suffering at their hands (wait, they don't have any hands). A hillbilly cult is in the middle of all these attacks. It's a send up of horror movies. Somebody got an idea and spent about ten dollars to make it. Oh, of course, there is one great line I remember: "Gee, I'm gonna miss her/a tomato ate my sister." Can't beat these kinds of lyrics.

The fruit born of the plant Solanum lycopersicum has gotten used as food for millenniums...and now it takes revenge on humans! "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!" is one of the silliest movies out there. Its title explains the entire plot, and it basically contains the same sort of humor that Leslie Nielsen's movies did. There's even a scene of deliberately bad dubbing, like in martial arts movies. No matter, you're sure to laugh the whole way through as the flick pokes fun at all sorts of horror and sci-fi movies. And besides, tomatoes are one of the tastiest foods out there (did I just doom myself by saying that?). Really fun.
