I must confess that first time that I saw this short (Included in the "Masters of Russian Animation" collection, I didn't understand it, but I found the animation style to be pleasant, despite the apparently simplistic story (Where a man puts all the things from his apartment into one enormous closed and starts living here) Later, I discovered that this short actually was intended of a satire of the Soviet life of the time in which it was made, being considered by the film censors as a critique of mediocrity.For me, this film works very well as a subtle satire of the people that constantly tries to ignore the bad aspects of reality, creating a world of escapism and comfort in order to keep their happiness and pleasure. And in that way, this is actually a very powerful and exquisite allegory.
