After watching a blue movie in which a schoolgirl is brutally gang-raped, publisher of erotica magazines Tetsuro Muraki (Keizô Kani'e) sets out to find the star of the film, hoping to hire her for a photo-shoot. When he finally meets her, Muraki discovers that the incident in the film was for real and that the experience has left its 'star' Nami (Yûki Mizuhara) with serious psychological issues that have turned her into a sexual doormat. In an effort to restore Nami's self esteem, Muraki turns down her inevitable offer of nookie, promising to take her out for dinner the following evening instead. Unfortunately, Muraki is mistakenly arrested by the police and fails to make the date, leaving a despondent Nami alone in the rain, any hope completely dashed...Three years later, Muraki bumps into Nami working as a prostitute in a bar and attempts to make amends for not keeping his promise...My enjoyment of the Angel Guts films thus far has been largely dependent on two factors: how attractive the lead actress is, and how freaky and messed up the film gets. Red Classroom's Yûki Mizuhara is certainly very sexy as Nami, but the film lacks the jaw dropping deviancy that makes for a truly entertaining Pinku. Even the film's most memorable scene, in which Nami attempts to sexually dominate a man she picks up in a bar, pales in comparison to the outrageous scenes to be found in many other films of the same genre.Director Chûsei Sone's consistently nihilistic tone and frequent lapses into tedium only go further to make this one Pinku I'm unlikely to revisit in a hurry.5.5 out of 10, very generously rounded up to 6 for IMDb.
... View MoreAn editor, Tetsuro Muraki(Keizo Kanie), for an adult magazine, Pornoc, develops an unhealthy infatuation for a prostitute he first saw featured in a blue film, Nami Tsuchikya(Yuuki Mizuhara). After being put in prison for unknowingly breaking a law regarding the use of a minor in a sexually explicit manner(..she lied about her age), he misses a chance date with Nami, after finding her through a rather difficult search. Three years later, Muraki is unhappily married with a child, still trying to find Nami. When he does, Muraki is heartbroken to see Nami slumming for a sadistic pimp, lending her body to paying customers, often to orgies of slobbering oglers. Muraki wishes to rescue her from the filth and mire, but Nami seems to be a lost cause. You know, I found the idea of Nami's dominance sexually in scenes with her pimp rather provocative and profound..he even attempts to free himself from her grasp, only to get entrapped right back into her sexual web. Something I also found quite fascinating was director Chusei Sone's use of a funhouse mirror to distort the reflections of Nami and her feckless pimp perhaps symbolizing their warped human nature. You get an inside look into the process of photographing(..and developing) smut and yet, despite Muraki's deep involvement in such a highly unfavorable enterprise, we can still empathize for the guy. For once in his life, Muraki wishes to do the right thing, and securing Nami from her sleazy world would be a fitting triumph. Sone and writer Takashi Ishii made the right decision ending this film on a rather depressing note..they could've just as easily created a pathway of escape, but the world we inhabit doesn't always have one, and sometimes the lost wish not to be saved. Several lengthly sex scenes featuring Nami..the rather ruthless rape by a gang of school boys in the opening blue film, and two particularly involving Nami ravaging her pimp/lover who is even interrupted by her while urinating! Muraki also has a love-making session with his nagging adulterous lover who visits him once a week for sex. I'm still quite a pup in regards to the "roman porno" genre, but I've been quite impressed with the Angel Guts series so far. Unlike other soft-core roughies, this series seems to have a depth to match it's lurid subject matter.

Wheras the first film showed the ghastly acts of rape themselves, this one is more interested in the devastating aftermath and psychological effects it can produce, as well as how easily one can blur reality with the celluloid world. Tetsuro Muraki, a pornographer, becomes obsessed with Nami Tsuchiya, when he sees her on a video in a school girl themed rape scene, only to find out that she's very far from the innocent that he made her to be in his mind, leading to a powerful and devastating ending. While the film lacks the raw edge of "High School Co Ed, I found this film to be endlessly more fascinating and a much deeper experience. My Grade: B DVD Extras: Commentary by Jasper Sharp; Bio/Filmographies; Separate Interviews with Takashi Ishii (17 minutes) and Takashi Ishii on Chusei Sone (10 minutes); Original Sleeve art; and Trailers for this and 4 other Angel Guts Films (High School Co Ed, Nami, Red Vertigo, & Red Porno) all available in Artsmagik's Box-set, but for some reason the 6th film "Angel Guts: Red Flash" is not in the set
... View MoreThis second ANGEL GUTS entry is a more solemn, more considered creature.A pornographer (Tetsuo Muraki) becomes obsessed with a model (the linking character Nami, played by Yuuki Mizuhara) who participated in a rape film shot at a high school. He seeks her out and has his expectations of her shattered both sexually and emotionally. The opening film-within-a-film features Nami being raped by men in school uniforms. It doesn't set the tone for this outing because this is far less inflammatory than the debut installment, but it re-establishes the series' theme: brutal sexuality. The relationship between the pornographer and the model is developed slowly and unexpectedly. The erotic imagery is powerful at times and, once again, the cinematography is moody, the direction sharp and inventive.A perceptive look at how we allow ourselves to be seduced by illusion.
