A Christmas Horror Story Trailers

Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy, peace and goodwill. But for some folks in the small town of Bailey Downs, it turns into something much less festive.

I really started this without much optimism. However, it ended up being much better than I expected. I loved that William Shatner was in it. How can you not love Shatner? This is an anthology and while the stories overlap in small ways, they were really well delivered offering each a uniqueness. Christmas horror is tricky but I was pleased with how the stories unfolded. This is still, what I consider low budget but you can let low budget stop you when you are a fan of horror. Check it out. It is a decent film.

if your looking for a cheesy Christmas horror movie, the title of this couldn't be more clear, this is for you.If you looking for something else.. then it's not for you. Personally it was exactly what i was looking for and thought it was a good movie. I like anthology horror movies, and there was definitely a market for a Christmas one and I think they done a pretty good job. Shatner has the easiest gig ever, saying a few words over the radio, so if your watching it for him you might be disappointed, just highly paid cameo here.

Being a 'Trekkie' I do have the tendency to watch almost anything the great 'Bill' Shatner is in, so, coupled with my love of horror, I thought this one would be right up my street. It wasn't. A kind of knew that 'Captain Kirk' would only have a small amount of screen time, so it wasn't that I felt short-changed due to him only holding the intertwining stories together through use of his scenes as a radio DJ (which were arguably the best bits!). My problem was with the story/s themselves. Basically, the film is split into four different (Christmas-related) horror tales. This wouldn't bother me if it wasn't for the fact that two of them aren't really that good.Perhaps it might have been better if the stories were told one after the other. I watched this on DVD therefore this would have enabled me to simply skip to the next story if I was getting bored. However, the narrative jumps back and forth between them all. This means that, during the stories that you like, you're just happily getting into when suddenly you're wrenched back to one of the lesser interesting ones.I would say that the highlight of the film (or rather story which appealed to me the most) involves the elves in Father Christmas' North Pole toy factory developing a plague which turns them into flesh-eating zombie elves. Therefore, Santa has to 'kick a$$' and take them down in a way that Rick and Darryl from The Walking Dead would be proud. I quite liked the 'changling' story too, but mainly because I've always been fascinated by this – disturbing – type of fairy tale. However, even that sort of lost its appeal once the lesser interesting stories have been interwoven within its framework.Yes, William Shatner is the best part, but even his rambling brand of comedy wasn't really enough to make me want to sit through an hour and a half of sub-standard Christmas stories. I'd rather just see a twenty minute short of Santa bludgeoning elves to death in front of his mutilated reindeers and be done with it. Pity. Could and should have been much more fun.

It's Christmas Eve in the small town of Bailey Downs. DJ Dangerous Dan (William Shatner) is pulling a double shift on the radio. Two kids were killed one year ago in the local school. Students Dylan, Ben, and Molly Simon are doing a story on the incident. They get locked in the basement. Scott and Kim Peters go into private property to cut down a Christmas tree. Their son Will gets lost but they eventually find him. However, there is something odd about him. Taylor Bauer takes his family to visit his aunt but she kicks them out. A creature runs across the road and Taylor crashes the car. Meanwhile in the North Pole, Santa is battling with zombie elves. There is some solid horror work being done here. It's somewhat like a loosely connected Twilight Zone anthology. These four horror stories are shown in a back and forth manner. This does mean the first half of the movie is a bit slow with the four stories getting set up. First of all, Shatner's part is not necessary. It's great that Shatner has a day to give to the filmmakers and I'm sure they were restricted with his usage. His pontificating adds nothing to the stories. There is one big connection but that's not necessarily either. There has to be a more compelling way to use his stardom. There is value in all four horror stories. The kids in the basement is a classic jump-scare horror. The changeling is an even older classic horror. The family on the run is solid chase horror. None of these three are completely original but they are all well-made very solid old school horrors.Santa and the elves do stand out. It is something different but also something not fully realized. In addition, it doesn't fit. There is a pretty good twist in the end but that needs better foreshadowing earlier on. This section could probably stand on its own as a separate movie. The other three would work better without this. The special effects and gore effects are generally competent especially for an indie. The acting is solid throughout and the horror is fine.
